The antis regularly trumpet the argument that we need to slash visa numbers to protect jobs for Americans looking for work. Friends,
I'm a long time silent follower of these forums. I've been thru most of the ups and downs of the immigration journey, and I am now on the final stage of the green card waiting for my PD to be current.
Something rather curious happened to me that I would like to share with you. I recently applied for my first EAD, about a full year and a half after I filed for my I-485. My e-application and consequently the receipt date is Nov 3rd, 2008. I got my biometrics notice in the mail on Nov 14th, for an appointment date of tomorrow, Nov 26th.
The oddity starts here, I just went to check my mail, and I am already approved for my EAD, and the card production has been ordered.
Is this something that happens frequently? Has it ever happened to anyone else before? I will be showing up to my appointment tomorrow anyway just in case...

Hi ,
My friend needs to attend a family urgency and planning to travel immediately . His AP is expiring on 3 Sep 09( 4 days ) . He is working on EAD and is in Adjustment status he is yet to start the AP renewal process ...any advice appreciated...

Normally for non auditted PERM cases only employer can check the status.

Does anyone know if there are any support group/s out there to help plan moving back to india, for good?

If you can get to the soft copy of the checks usually provided by most of the banks, you can find the receipt number on the rear/back side of the check.

Hi Please help...
My last day at my job will be Feb 2nd.(COmpany A)
I have filed for h1b transfer with company B .But I am asked that i can only join company B after h1b approval(not with reciept).I will be in legal status while in process.(COS)
Now in the meantime if I find a job with company C (while my h1b transfer with company B is in process) ...can i transfer my h1b again while h1b trasnfer with company B is in process and company A has sent revoking notice.

Starting this thread for NSC 140 applicants to track LUDs and Approvals.
The whole purpose of this thread is to get the indication of where NSC is with the appoval process for 140.

Hi,
When u use EAD and AP to come back into US, then u loose your H1 status.
About reverting back to H1 from EAD, there are many Ifs and buts. You should have a valid H1 maintained etc. Consult a good attorney.

Hi, we gat our GCs in aug 2008. My husband works for a Swiss bank in US. They are offering a promotion and move to Europe. If he accepts how will it affect our GC and eligibility for Citizenship in the future.
you will be under preasure to surender the GC even if you keep visiting every 6 months or so. you will also have to file the federal income tax every year for all income earned out of the country. consult with a tax consultant too.

Hi guys,
I am new to WPF. Pls help me in this.
I want to dynamically load any .xaml file which had 3D object. Now I am selecting one sample .xaml file using opendialog box. I rendered the Content to the window. Now I am able to do Zoom and Pan. But I am unable to do rotation.
Pls help me in this.

The big news today was Senator Reid now backtracking and promising climate change legislation before immigration reform. But in a seeming effort to show the Democrats are close to ready to go on immigration reform, Senators Reid, Schumer and Menendez began circulating a detailed outline of a comprehensive immigration reform bill that appears to exclude Senator Graham. As of July 24, 2009, approximately 44,900 H-1B cap-subject petitions have been received by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and counted towards the H-1B cap. Approximately 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap exemption have been filed. USCIS will continue to accept both cap-subject petitions and advanced degree petitions until a sufficient number of H-1B petitions have been received to reach the statutory limits. The H-1B program allows foreign nationals to work for their U.S. sponsor employer in a specialty occupation that requires theoretical or technical expertise in specialized fields. The Washington Post reports on data released from the Border Patrol. Among the findings: - The number of Border Patrol agents has more than doubled from 9,000 in 2001 to 20,000 this year - 626 miles of the border with Mexico are now covered by fencing and vehicle barriers which is about half of the planned coverage on the 2000 mile border. - Border arrests are down from nearly 1.75 million in 2000 to 723,000 over the past year While the economy obviously plays a role, the dramatic uptick in enforcement sure is playing a role and Senator Schumer's contention...
