Dont assume that people who gone back to India and working a manager are living happily without any issues.
One of my friends whome I used to work in 2005 was promoted to manager in 2007. Now he is in a dilemma whether to continue to go up the ladder or come back doing technical stuff. Salary wise he is not getting that much and he doesnt know how the company will do infuture. It all depends on US economy. If you are looking for 18L above salary, then it is very very tough to get a job in india.

I get a big laugh when I read some of the posts mocking each other...

all those who are asking for donation..would you be happy if I donate a 1000$...why not make IV a paysite :D

Not sure if anyone else has faced this so wanted to put this out: I own a home and have a loan on it since 2003 (I was on H1 when i took the loan), now that the ARM is about to adjust i am in the market for refinance.
There is however a question on all the loans underwritten by freddy/fanny asking for immigration status and if the answer is EAD the loan is denied. They even sent me an explanation of denial.....:confused:
A loan application can be denied for any reason and as amatter of fact due to current financial mess, lenders are very wary. So don't be surprised by denial. Try another place.
I secured loan after 2.5 months of constant battle. My lender tried all possible means to discourage me and only after I fired-back with technical arguments did they clear my loan. But than I was also asking for 5% down, which nowdays is no more entertained by lenders.
Try different sources and atleast you have the house in possesion. You will get a new lender, don't worry!

Arrived Aug 2002. Got GC last month. I would suggest people to file for GC as early as possible. Do not change employers for money (unless unless it is really really really necessary) until u get GC.

However, the reason is that the most skilled graduates from India (and China) do not stick around for long there, and are actually to be found here! Without checking the raw data it is impossible to comment on Mr Wadhwa's assertion regarding ease of filling positions in US vs India/China. No. It is true to some extent that we are paying more taxes.
Take my case for an example. My kid is not an American citizen. She moved with us when she was a baby and currently under H-4 status. So she could not obtain social security number that is good for "authorized to work". Without the SSN, we were not eligible for certain child tax credit, which was hundreds of dollars. I tried an ITIN but I got a formal response from IRS that the child still needs to have a SSN to be eligible for the credit.
If you ever filed your tax return yourself and have a kid, you will know what I mean.

I do not think the above is true.
