I got H1 this year. I was applied my ssn on oct 9 th. still i didn't get my ssn number. two days back ssn people called and told that "in online it is showing your EAd card. so we can give u ssn if you bring the EAD card". My question is if i give my EAD, will the h1 get cancelled. please suggest me.
Dont worry, showing EAD to SSA office will not cancel or invalid your H1B. Goto SSA office and tell them you have both H1B as well as EAD.

If you don't file a G-28 alongwith your renewal, it's implied that you are renewing without a lawyer.

I have my I 140 and I 485 (Aug 07 filer) for a future employment from a small company with EB2 as software engineer. I 140 still pending and got an RFE. I got the EAD. In a month am going to finish 180 days.
Currently, I work for Fortune's Best software company as sr. software QA engineer. My company wants to go ahead filing for my GC.
As this current company being a best american software company and I can stay for any longer, I wish to go ahead with filing for a fresh GC. However, I was wondering how I could use the benefits of the priority date from the previous 485 filing mentioned above. my company attorney suggests that am eligible for EB3 where as my 485 already filed is under EB2.
What would be the implication if my current employers files for EB3 and my previous I 485 filing is under EB2. What are the options that are available for leveraging the benefits of my previous filing or using EAD?
What is the best course of action.

USCIS reports that 1000 H-1Bs were receipted over the past week with 34,500 now counted. 400 masters cap cases were added bringing the total to 13,000 in that category. Effective July 9, 2010, the Department of State revised its visa reciprocity schedule for China to allow for a 12 month, multiple entry visa for H visa applicants. This will allow H-1B visa holders from China to have multiple entries into the U.S. for a 12 month period. Senior members & Experts , please clarify on this issue
1. I'm AOS aplicant currently working with company X in US and planning to go to abroad and work for other employer Y for 1 year in abroad. Once I come back to US ,can i join with employer X on H1B and continue with GC processing?
If above can't be done
2. Assuming I withdraw my 485,so i will on H1B status. If H1B applicant currently working with company X in US and work for other employer Y for 1 year in abroad. Once I come back to US ,can i join with employer X on H1B and later continue with GC processing? - or H1B status abandon as soon as i change employment in Abroad

My friend's 485 is pending with CIS and he is working on EAD. He currently does not hold any other visa. In fact his last H1 expired more than a year ago. We recently tried to renew his EAD online on USCIS website. However, we were stumped by a question which asks the applicant about his/her current immigration status in US. It was a drop down box and had many options like H1, L1 etc, but there was no option for somebody like him whose current status is just "AOS pending".
How do we get around this? Do you think it is best to apply on paper?

Since you were working all these times, please carry the W2 for 2008 ( for both of you). They may/may not ask for this, but its safe to carry the document
I am currently on H1 but planning to go on H4 due to current economic scenario.
I am planning to go to India due to some family reason and planning to get COS from H1 to H4 in India.
I have my salary slips and my husband has also maintained his status throughout.
Has anyone heard any horror stories about H4 stamping cases getting denied.
What documents they ask for when you go for COS from H1 to H4. Besides salary slips can they ask for my W-2's or they need my husband's W-2's only

I think yes you can as far as you have valid copy of your I-140 approval new employer can start the process and you can port the priority date.

I'd like to know can a dependent (not the prime applicant) on a pending 485 status, avail unemployment insurance, especially the extended benefits which are being given by Federal govt. to the states.
This is the latest from USCIS :

it says, that unemployment compensation is not public charge.
Does it even apply to both standard unemployment insurance and the extended benefits.
