A new poll from ABC News shows a seemingly contradictory result. Nearly six in ten support the controversial Arizona law SB1070. That will make the Tea Party crowd happy. But the buried headline is that almost the same number support legalizing illegally present immigrants. Why the seemingly conflicting data? I got my H1 approved in Oct 2004 and it was from Oct 2004 - Oct 2007. I used only 6 months of H1 and later went on TN (work visa for Canadian citizens) and remained in US working on TN for 4 years. I was in US all these years. Now even the earlier H1 approval duration is over, Can I apply for H1 with another employer using the old 2004 H1 quota cap or it has to be under new 2009 cap? Thanks in advance.

I am new at this site and I have a question!!
My lawyer submitted the ETA 9089 on Dec. 2007 , we've been checking the case # A-XXXXX-XXXXX and the only thing that shows is: PROCESSING...
Isnt supposed to be 30 days??
My situation is really bad because right now my driver license expired and I cant renew without an Immigration Case Number, but my process stil on DOL as "processing"
Any suggestion or Comments??

Now that we have media attention with USCIS we should start letting Congress know of our plight too. Vice President who I think is the chair of the senate and Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker.:D
Adding whackiness to it. How about creating just one big huge monster greeting card with all the signatures from affecting people and put it in front of white house or some place we get the attention.

Hi,
I have been granted an asylum last year in July. I sent my I-485 to adjust my status this year on August 24th with the fee waiver form (sending proof of food stamp eligibility and supporting documents.)
Today is October 2nd(its been almost 40 days) and I have not received a document receipt from USCIS (we are a family of 3 and non of us has received anything in regards to this matter)
Please let me know what actions should I take or should i wait?! Is it possible to not get a receipt and just receive the finger print notice in the next few months?! (I just checked texas service center's processing times, and it says they are at March 28th,2010 now)

Can i leave the employer while i-140 is pending.....???If emplyer assures me that he won't revoke the i-140...???
I would like to move to another job at the same time i would like to take some benift(PD) from the GC process i have been through so far.

Quick question,
My case (I-140, I-485) is at Texas Service Center, because when I first applied I used to live in New Jersey and that was the service center I had to use.
I've been having a lot of trouble with Texas and California is working on case like mine a lot faster and I've been living here for the last 18 months.
Is there a way I can transfer my case to CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER?

I am applying for my H1B extension in apr 2009 for the start date of oct 1st 2009. I have been with the same client for the last 3 years. Following are my concerns:
My client doesn't give any reference letters as per their HR policy. But we have all contract docs/purchase orders from the client since oct 2006. The client extends the project only every 6 months and this has been happening since 3 years. But if USCIS asks a letter/contract which covers the entire contract period for which the H1B extension is requested, what are my options? Please let me know.

If the new bill gets approved when will it likely take affect? I just had my LC approved today and they are going to file I-140. Before the EB-3 retrogression for all nationalities i was told i-140 an i-485 could be filed at the same time. what impact does the new bill have on my situation?
